British Dating Site Focuses on Sexless Relationships

For anyone looking for sex, the Internet is often the first stop, with its array of dating sites and chat rooms devoted to the subject.

It is probably the last place that those seeking a celibate relationship would consider looking.

However, an online dating agency has been launched for those seeking intimacy without intercourse.

Platonicpartners.co.uk says that it will help the silent minority of adults seeking "celibate, platonic, non-physical or partly physical relationships" and help them to find a mate.

The site was founded by Susie King, a former life coach, who was moved to set up the forum after a close friend attempted suicide because of his sexual impotence.

Lynx tells online Casanovas to get real

A tongue-in-cheek digital advertising campaign from deodorant brand Lynx is aiming to help men who spend too much time flirting on Facebook and in chatrooms to learn how to pull women in real life.

The campaign, the first work by creative ad agency BBH since it won Lynx's digital business in December, aims to give men "diverse digital content to use to play the seduction game in real life".

In recognition of the fact that the web and gadgets are part of most young men's lifestyle, BBH has put a website, called Get in There, at the heart of the campaign.

The site, lynxeffect.com, has tools including a range of mobile phone applications that will turn a handset into "a pulling tool, a weapon of mass seduction".

Lynx's Fit Girl Finder emits a bleeping sound that "homes in" on an attractive lady.

Online dating 'sad and frustrating'

Susan Frohlick, an anthropology professor at the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, says the women she surveyed gained a sense of empowerment from their online dating experiences.

But they still wanted the man to make the first move and expected him pick up the tab.

"Women are finding it as a useful tool to enter into the dating world, they find that it's safe, they find that they can be a little more bold than they would in face-to-face relationships," Ms Frohlick said of her survey, which looks at how women over 30 view online dating.

"But, at the same time, they are experiencing frustration because it does seem that the internet in many ways is just the same old bar scene."

Letters, 11/29: The dangers of MySpace

I read on Nov. 18 the article called "MySpace hoax ends with teen’s suicide."In the article I was extremely shocked by the behavior that was going on over the computer site MySpace. I personally do not have a MySpace page specifically for that reason. This article is just one of the many horror stories I have heard about the site. Not only are there people — adults and children — making "false pages," there are predators, and without truly knowing the person you don’t know who it might be. .

Fake beauties rush net lover

FAKE beauties, including a Nigerian woman with millions to share, have rushed an internet "sting" set-up to test online dating services.

THEIR stories are always the same - a tragic young girl, usually Nigerian, forced to live in terrible conditions until she is able to access the millions her father left her.

SHE will contact you through a dating site asking for help to transfer the money into an offshore account for your new life together.

USING a composite photo made from images of staff members, the Sunday Mail set up a profile of Geoff Carr , an eligible, handsome South Australianon, and put him a popular dating website to see what response we would get.

And it doesn't matter that he is not a real man – because neither are many of the women who contacted him during his first week on a popular dating website.
