The models go through a four-hour training about the vehicles and are dressed in John Galliano, Gianfranco Ferr and Roberto Cavalli gowns a face-lift to last year's "older world elegance," inspired by Grace Kelly and Sophia Loren. Maserati's Michigan teams contacted local agencies to find the perfect fit for their image this year: sexy and sparkling with luxury, like champagne, Soriani said. "We want beautiful girls, but not top models. They would be too intimidating to talk with." Instead, Soriani said, Maserati's aim was to find pretty girls with the gift of gab. "When someone sees a Maserati, we expect the person to point and say, 'Hey, look at the girl, or the guy driving the Maserati.'" This is the kind of thinking that builds what a person sees from our company," Soriani said.
MySpace agrees to new safety measures
An official familiar with the multistate agreement said that MySpace, the huge online social networking Web site, has agreed to include several online protections and participate in a working group to develop age-verification and other technologies. The official said MySpace will also accept independent monitoring and changes to the structure of its site. The agreement is scheduled to be announced today in Manhattan by attorneys general from New Jersey, North Carolina, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Ohio and New York. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the agreement hadn’t yet been announced. The attorneys general have been seeking greater controls for online networking sites to prevent sexual predators from using those sites to contact children.
Dating and the battle of the bulge
(This is such a heavy subject it will take two columns to complete.) The holiday season is over, and for many of us the dieting season has begun. Since New Years Day, we have stepped on our scales and recoiled in terror as the little red line on the display edged ever so slowly into virgin territory. Lets face it, almost all of us have added 5-10 extra pounds since Thanksgiving, when we rationalized OK, its the holiday season, so what the heck, Ill have another serving of turkey and stuffing, and sure, throw a scoop of ice cream on my second slice of apple pie. And so this week we are making New Years resolutions to drop those extra pounds and, while we are at it, maybe try and shed some or all of the other 10, 20, 50 or more pounds that have been creeping onto our stomachs, hips, and butts over the years and decades.
Dragun's search for her roots
THIS is a copy of Charmaine Dragun's STM article on researching her Croatian roots. Armed with a map and a few tantalising clues, Channel 10 newsreader CHARMAINE DRAGUN went cruising the islands of Croatia in search of her family history. STM went along for the ride. Fierce lovers often declare "When you know, you just know". And for me, this was love at first sight. My breath caught as we stepped on to the tarmac and gazed out on Croatia for the first time. Accompanied by the other love of my life, photographer Simon Struthers, I headed off into the dusky landscape where mountains buried in clouds melt into the sea, and a blood orange sun lights the sky. It was a sumptuous sight and I heard myself asking: "So, why did my family leave here again?" Well, war, gloomy job prospects and communism provided a few compelling reasons.
