Sabeen Ali and Hashim Mian

AS first-generation Pakistani-Americans, Hashim Mian and Sabeen Ali moved easily between the cultures. Both read the Koran and visited relatives in Karachi and conversed in Urdu at home. They also drank beer, liked to party and fell in love without their parents knowing about it.

For Latino Catholics, rituals provides lessons on faith, family - and ...

On the day she is to become a woman, Monica Reyes sits in front of the church for Mass. Her white dress - sewn in her mother's Mexican hometown - spills over her chair like an oversized lampshade.

The priest urges her to live as a daughter of God. Her parents give her a gold ring shaped like the number 15. Near the end of the service, Reyes lays a bouquet of roses before a statue of the Virgin Mary.

Then she steps through the worn, wooden doors of St. Josephs, a Roman Catholic parish for generations of poor, Hispanic immigrants, and into a 20-seat white Hummer limo that rents for $150 an hour.

Before long, a stretch Lincoln Town Car arrives for the next Quinceaera Mass.

An elaborate coming-of-age ritual for Hispanic girls on their 15th birthday, the Quinceaera has long been divisive in the U.S.

Teen Sleeps With 50 Men In 2 years....!!!

Just read this article in The Sun. The depressing thing is, I wasn't shocked by it. Promiscuity amongst teens is becoming all too common, but the repurcussions are far-reaching: (1) We have the highest rates of teenage pregnancy and abortion in Europe. (2) We have the highest incidences of STD's in Europe. (3) It seems our taxes will now be paying kids to undergo "sex therapy" as the 15 year old girl in the story did, because it seems to be the only way for them to see the error of their ways. Can't blame immigrants for this one. Can't blame the government who cannot be expected to chaperon every youth in the UK. Can't blame the schools because sex edcuation most definately is on the agenda but the sexually rampant young teens are too busy skiving to attend those classes. I blame the media for over-sexualising everything.

When twentysomething cashiers and baby boomers collide

Even their social networks are maintained via technology — text messages, instant messages, and Web sites such as Facebook and MySpace. To put it in words a boomer can understand, face-to-face interaction just isn't their bag.“They're clueless," said Franni Segal, 55, a travel agent with a degree in retailing. “They're more interested in talking to their friends. They have no incentive to make the sale."When she was in her 20s, working on commission as an assistant manager at Bonwit Teller, she recalled, she and her colleagues eagerly courted customers. “Today when you go into a store, they're not interested in your needs. . . . With the kind of service you get now, you might as well be on the Internet."‘It drives me crazy'Neil Simpkins, a boomer who waited tables and tended bar as a young man, said he was appalled by what passed for service these days.“It drives me crazy," said Simpkins, 53, an account supervisor for LevLane Public Relations in Center City, Pa..Last week at Macy's, he was hurried and a little lost while searching for winter gloves.
